 ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਜਦੋ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀ ਸੌਂ ਗਏ ਤਾ ਅੱਧੀ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਰਸੋਈ ਵਿੱਚੋ ਇਕ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣਾਈ ਦਿਤੀ | ਆਵਾਜ  ਆਇਆ ਕਰੇ ਫਿਰ ਥੋੜੀ ਦੇਰ ਬਾਅਦ ਰੁਕ ਜਾਇਆ ਕਰੇ | ਇਸ ਤਰਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਰਾਤ ਨਿਕਲ ਗਈ | ਸਵੇਰੇ ਉੱਠਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਰਸੋਈ  ਵਿਚ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੁਛ ਵੀ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿਤਾ | ਪਰ ਜਦੋ ਮੈਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੁਰਸੀ ਤੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਚਾਹ ਪੀ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਤਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਚੀਜ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੈਰ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਦੀ ਭੱਜਦੀ ਨਜਰ ਆਈ ਤੇ ਭੱਜਦੇ ਭੱਜਦੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸਦੀ ਪੂਛ ਦਿਸ ਗਈ | ਪਹਿਲਾ ਤਾ ਮੈਂ ਡਰ ਗਿਆ ਤੇ ਸੋਚਣ ਲਗਾ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਪ ਵੜ ਗਿਆ  | ਮੈਂ ਘਰਵਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਸਿਆ ਤਾ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਡਰ ਗਈ ਤੇ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ | ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ  ਦੋਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਫੋਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਘਰ ਆ ਗਿਆ| ਅਸੀਂ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਨੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰਾਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਚੀਜ  ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿਤੀ | ਫਿਰ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਰਸੋਈ ਵਿੱਚੋ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਖੜਕਣ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ ਆਈ , ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਰਸੋਈ ਵਿਚ ਗਏ ਤਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਚੂਹਾ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੱਤਾ | ਜੋ ਬਹੁਤ ਮੋਟਾ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਬੜੀ ਪੂਛ ਸੀ | ਚੂਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਥੋੜਾ ਜਹਾ ਸੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਸਾਹ ਆਇਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਇਕ ਚੂਹਾ ਸੀ ਕੋਈ ਸੱਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ | ਫਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਕਿਸਤਰਾਂ ਕਢਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ ? ਮੇਰਾ ਦੋਸਤ ਸੋਚਣ ਲਗਾ ਤੇ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਮਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਰਵਾਜੇ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦੋ ਤੇ ਰਸੋਈ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਦੇ ਕਮਰੇ ਦਾ ਦਰਵਾਜਾ ਖੋਲ ਦਿਓ  | ਚੂਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਰਸੋਈ ਵਿੱਚੋ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਬੜੇ ਕਮਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਣ ਦਿਓ ਤਾ ਜੋ ਚੂਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿਕਲਣ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੇ  | ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਮਨ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਮਰੇ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿਤੇ ਤੇ ਰਸੋਈ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਇਕ ਬੜੇ ਕਮਰੇ ਦਾ ਦਰਵਾਜਾ ਖੁਲਾ ਰੱਖ ਦਿਤਾ | ਰਸੋਈ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਲਾਇਆ ਤਾ ਚੂਹਾ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਰਸੋਈ ਵਿੱਚੋ ਬੜੇ ਕਮਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ | ਫਿਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਰਸੋਈ ਦਾ ਦਰਵਾਜਾ ਵੀ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ | ਚੂਹਾ ਹੁਣ ਬੜੇ ਕਮਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਕਮਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ || ਫਿਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੋਸਤ ਨੇ ਬੜੇ ਕਮਰੇ ਦਾ ਮੇਨ ਦਰਵਾਜਾ ਖੋਲ ਦਿਤਾ ਜੋ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਤੌ  ਬਾਹਰ ਜਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਉਣ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਸੀ | ਅਸੀਂ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਹੁਣ ਚੂਹਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿਕਲ ਜਾਵੇ ਗਾ ਪਰ ਚੂਹਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਚਲਾਕ ਸੀ ਉਹ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ | ਚੂਹਾ ਕਦੇ ਸੋਫੇ ਨੀਚੇ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਵੇ ਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਬੈਡ ਨੀਚੇ ਬੜ ਜਾਵੇ ਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਚੂਹਾ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਫਰਿਜ ਨੀਚੇ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਵੇ | ਚੂਹਾ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਿਕਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ | ਫਿਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੋਸਤ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਚੂਹਾ ਇਸ ਤਰਾਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਏ ਗਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਕਮਰੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਾਮਾਨ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਪਵੇ ਗਾ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਚੂਹਾ ਸਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਹਾਰ ਨਿਕਲ ਜਾਏ ਗਾ | ਅਸੀਂ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸੋਫੇ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਬੜੇ ਕਮਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਲੈ ਗਏ ਤਾ ਚੂਹਾ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਬੈਡ ਨੀਚੇ ਬੜ ਗਿਆ | ਫਿਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਬੈਡ ਨੂੰ ਬੜੇ ਕਮਰੇ ਵਿੱਚੋ ਬਾਹਰ ਲੈ ਗਏ ਤਾ ਚੂਹਾ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਫਰਿਜ ਨੀਚੇ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ | ਫਿਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਫਰਿਜ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਬੜੇ ਕਮਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਲੈ ਗਏ ਤਾ ਚੂਹਾ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਬੜੇ ਕਮਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਗਿਆ | ਹੁਣ ਕਮਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਸਮਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਚੂਹਾ ਕਮਰੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਕਮਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਕਲਾ ਹੀ ਭੱਜ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ  | ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕਣ ਦੇ  ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਸਮਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ  | ਫਿਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੋਸਤ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਚੂਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਕਮਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਦਿਤਾ ਤੇ ਚੂਹਾ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿਕਲਣ ਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਸੜਕ ਤੇ ਭੱਜ ਗਿਆ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ  ਸੜਕ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਇਕ ਦਰਖ਼ਤ ਦੀ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਲੁਕ ਗਿਆ | ਉਸ ਚੂਹੇ ਨੇ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਏਨਾ ਕੁ ਭਜਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਸਵੇਰ ਦੀ ਕਸਰਤ ਕਰਾ ਦਿਤੀ | ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਚੂਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਸੀ | ਕੁਛ ਕ ਸਮੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਮੈਂ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਚੂਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਵਾਰ ਦੇਖ ਤਾ ਆਵਾ ਉਹ ਦਰਖ਼ਤ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਕਰ ਕੀ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ  | ਜਦੋ ਮੈਂ  ਦਰਖ਼ਤ ਕੋਲ ਜਾ ਕ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਤਾ ਦਰਖ਼ਤ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਚੂਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ | ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਕਿਥੇ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ?
