Difference between distance and displacement.

Distance : It is the length or path in between any two points is called distance. As shown in below.  A----------------B      Here A and B are points.  Distance has always positive value. It can never be zero and negative value. Distance is a scalar quantity. It has only magnitude. Displacement : It is the distance or length or bath in between any two points and a body covers this distance or length in a particular direction is called displacement. As shown in below.  A------>------>------B     Here A and B are points. Body is moving from point A to point B (in a particular direction). Displacement has positive,  negative  and zero value.  Displacement is a vector quantity. It has magnitude as well as direction.

Define displacement.

Displacement is defined as the distance or length or path covered by a body in a particular direction is called Displacement. For eg.  The body is moving from point A to point B (that is in a particular  direction)  shown in this diagram  A----->------>------B Displacement has value is +ve or -ve or zero.

Define distance.

Distance is defined as the actual length or path between any two points is called Distance. For eg. A _____________ B  The length between points A and B is distance.  It has value is always +ve.
