Difference between distance and displacement.
Distance : It is the length or path in between any two points is called distance. As shown in below.
A----------------B Here A and B are points.
- Distance has always positive value. It can never be zero and negative value.
- Distance is a scalar quantity. It has only magnitude.
Displacement : It is the distance or length or bath in between any two points and a body covers this distance or length in a particular direction is called displacement. As shown in below.
A------>------>------B Here A and B are points. Body is moving from point A to point B (in a particular direction).
- Displacement has positive, negative and zero value.
- Displacement is a vector quantity. It has magnitude as well as direction.
